Falconers LLP regularly acts as counsel for individuals who are in conflict with their employer or union. The firm’s labour practice includes representing union members in applications before the Canada Industrial Relations Board and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. On the employment side, the Falconers LLP has acted for employees in actions commenced against their employer for wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal and discrimination.
Recently, the firm has been retained by a number of police officers who are in conflict with their police service or union. As a recognition of the firm’s expanding profile in police labour issues, Julian Falconer was asked to chair the 2010 Police Law Conference held in Toronto and published a paper on the rights of police officers in employment disputes.
